8 August 2299 - Multi-HR Day for Gep as Swatters Overpower Red Rockets, 14-2

A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Diamond City Swatters and Jamaica Plain Red Rockets.

Oren Gep impressed in the 14-2 Diamond City win over Jamaica Plain. Gep, who is on pace for 100 RBI this season, hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6. Jason Haynes, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 4-2.

In the top of the first, with the game still scoreless, Gep hit a run-scoring single to put his team in the lead.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gep.

With the victory, the Swatters upped their record to 61-28.

Wally Warwick also added two home runs, going 2 for 4 with two walks, four runs, and three RBI.

8 August 2299 - Stoops Slugs Assaultrons to 11-4 Win

Assaultrons shortstop Matt Stoops put his stamp on his team's 11-4 win over the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. Stoops hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for Easy Town in the contest. Easy Town, with the win, climbs to 30-59.

Adam Henderson had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Easy Town catcher hit a run-scoring single. That put the Assaultrons in front, 11-4.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Henderson told the Easy Town Today. "Unfortunately, we haven't spent most of the season playing like this."

8 August 2299 - Lady Killers Drop Contest, 14-3, to Nordhagen Beach

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys downed the Starlight Lady Killers, 14-3, at Valentine Detective Agency Field. The Party Boys were led by Jon Hitman. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Tommy Beach went 7.2 innings for Nordhagen Beach to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record improves to 11-8. Nordhagen Beach is now 61-28, 14 games up in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League.

The Party Boys got a big at-bat from right fielder Jonathan Angelou, who in the top of the sixth hit a bases-clearing double. It was his 25th double of the season and put the Party Boys on top, 9-1.

Hitman told a Nordhagen Beach News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

8 August 2299 - Silver Shroud Earn 9-8 Win Versus Ghouls

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud outlasted C.T. Woodard and the The Slog Ghouls, 9-8. Woodard was impressive in the loss. The The Slog second baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Fort Hagen has run its win streak to 6 in a row.

Entering the 9th inning down 8-7, the Shroud found their power. With one out, Andrew Nuka took Matt Suds (2-4) deep to tie the game, 8-8. Jim Tiller was the walk-off hero for Fort Hagen. With the game tied, the Silver Shroud first baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"Exhilarating win," said Tiller.

8 August 2299 - Hancocks Lose, 3-2

Vault 81 and Goodneighbor duked it out and the Dwellers came out victorious.

The Vault 81 Dwellers got a stellar performance from pitcher Vince McCort, who handcuffed the Goodneighbor offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS. In 8 innings, McCort surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs.

Vault 81 used the timely hitting of Harry Byrd to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dwellers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I really like what we did out there today," Byrd said after the game.

With the win, Vault 81 upped its record to 47-42, one game up on Oberland for the Railroad League wild card.
