I used to enjoy the Baton Rouge River Bats and the Baton Rouge Blue Marlins... in the independent leagues several years ago... the quality of play was quite good, but poorly attended at Goldsby Field, which I think the Baton Rouge Red Sticks used for Evangeline League games in the 40s and 50s... it was a Class D minor league.

Before the pandemic hit, there was supposed to be another independent team to play at Goldsby... the Baton Rouge Rougerou... or something like that... haven't heard if they are still going to start in June.

They will not be successful... Baton Rouge folks only go to LSU games.

The league is the Texas Collegiate League... an independent league.
