Walkers news: Kawamoto's season ends with elbow injury
The St. Louis River Walkers have placed left-handed starting pitcher Kaneo Kawamoto on the injured list with an elbow injury which is expected to sideline him for three months.
It is the third trip to the IL this season for Kawamoto. He last pitched in a 7-3 win over Cedar Rapids on Sept. 21, but he exited that game after having pitched just over an inning.
For the season, Kawamoto was 8-8 with a 5.96 ERA in 23 starts.
It is likely this will end the 35-year-old Kawamoto's tenure in St. Louis, as he will be a free agent at season's end.
Acquired by the Walkers in a trade with Des Moines before the 2027 season.
Kawamoto had a nice tenure in St. Louis going 65-45 in 145 starts while boasting a 3.85 ERA.
He will be replaced in the Walkers' rotation by Rich Haas.
The right-handed Haas has made 11 starts for St. Louis this season, going 2-5 with a 7.20 ERA.
At Memphis, the 26-year-old went 7-2 in 16 starts with a 2.59 ERA.
