1936 Opening Day!
Fake baseball is back! The Cougars start the season with three in Toronto before three hosting the defending Continental Association champion Foresters. Even with a 6 man rotation, OSA actually expects the Cougars to finish fourth at 77-77 with John Lawson the frontrunner for MVP with a .361/.421/.526 batting line to go with 18 homers and 115 driven in. We're also now ranked 6th in the farm system ranks, with Billy Hunter the lone top 20 prospect and system leader ranked 16th. We do boast 12 in the top 100 and another 12 between 101 and 200, but down to just 42 in the top 500. Our #30 prospect is Art Saunders who checks in at 262, but we have no prospects between 276 (Cuno Myer) and 405 (Bill Dickens) who rank 33rd and 34th in our system respectively.
Take a look at your 1936 Chicago Cougars!

We have one lone representative in the top hitters John Lawson (12th), and one pitcher, Dave Rankin (16th) to start the season, although these are very volatile. Looking at position ranks, we seem set at third (2nd), short (5th), left (5th), and catcher (5th), and right (7th), with the right field number only expected to increase as Langton gets more experience out in right. Of course, the league now seems to be against Leo Mitchell, who I'm more then expecting to prove all the doubters wrong. I'm really conformable with the team we are able to field and while I don't expect an overly successful season, I am really excited for what is yet to come
EDIT: I guess I might have accidentally given Ray Ford a 40 man spot yesterday, so instead of burning an option, he'll join the big league roster. This will send Russ Combs to AAA. I'm going to give him a few reps at first as it seems like he's got no glove left. He used to rake, maybe he still does? Worst case, he becomes a better utility player.
