All-Star Break 2032

Here are the All-Star teams, first with the AL:

Lots of interesting names here. The Rays' pitchers that made it were Little and Sachais as starters, and Nate Thompson and Danny Medina as relievers. Medina was a surprise, but he's listed as a reliever and that spot start shutout of his really boosted his numbers for whatever algorithm OOTP uses apparently. On the hitting side the only Rays are the ones who won the voting: Widmar, Jenkins and de Jesus. Plenty of former Rays in the AL as well, including guys we kind of casted off, like Aiden Meola, Jeremy Bowers and Jordan Evangelista. Over in the NL, some interesting former Rays are Malachi Benford, Jack Leiter (unsurprisingly), Daniel Olarte (part of the Jaiden Hardaway deal) and all 3 first basemen. We've had a bottomless well of quality 1B it seems and Caleb Picciotti is having a big year with Colorado, while Joe Barker is doing his usual thing in Washington. Victor Barillas is really having a big year and he went to the Phillies in the deal that brought us Rodolfo Rivas and D'Andre Hodges, but they ended up waiving him to be claimed by Cincinnati where he's flourished.

HR Derby: Nate Clark was a participant once again, but this time he lost in the first round to eventual winner Cristhian Rodriguez of Columbus, who edged him 17-16 and then went on to nip former Rays property Jordan Evangelista 16-15 in the final round.

The game itself:

What a brutal performance by the AL. MVP of the game Austin Hendrick became the first player in MLB history to homer twice in the same inning in an All-Star game as the NL went deep four times in 10-run 2nd inning in a 13-1 rout of the AL. Our three Rays hitters were a combined 0-8, Christian Little came in to get the final out of that 10-run 2nd, Alec Sachais had a scoreless inning and Danny Medina gave up a run on Hendrick's RBI double. Nate Thompson didn't pitch.
