LAST YEAR'S RU NORTH CHAMP FAR MOUNTAIN BIG FAVORITE THIS SEASON
Last season the Far Mountain Redhawks just barely beat the LaGrange Gators for the Ruthlandian North crown by one game, winning in a one-game playoff... this year's preseason poll reveals that the Redhawks (94-60) will repeat in a runaway... the pollsters are picking them to win by double digits, 15 games better than LaGrange (79-75) this year... superior pitching and a solid attack will propel the Redhawks past its main competitors this season.
The Redhawks came close to winning the Pro Cup last year, falling to IPA champion Rolling Hills in 7 games... they will be aiming to win it all this year... they should pick up where they left off last year... Curt Miley, Mack McKendry, Luke Hazlett, Oskar Neumann and Jeffrey Garlin are back to spark the offense... so are the quality pitchers Axel Heiden, Clarence Threadgill and Rick Goldman.
The LaGrange Gators lost a heartbreaker last year... they have won the pennant 2 times in the last 6 seasons... never won the Pro Cup... overall made the playoffs 8 times in history... LaGrange is banking on better pitching this season, led by Reynaldo Medrano, Zac Chandler and Lucien Petit... the offense is pretty solid with the likes of Tony Rojas, Chogie Alfieri, Cleve Juban, Bert Rockenbaugh and Pokie Ruckle.
The rest of the division will contend with the Gators for second place... look for the Glasco Foxhounds (74-80) and Ancona Jumbos (68-86) to be in that chase for the runner-up spot in the RU North... they are better teams than the experts are saying they are and will finish higher in the standings.
