I've had a couple hard reboots -- not just crashes -- while clicking-and-dragging players. I'm using Windows 10, GTX 980, 12G RAM. Why in the world would the game not only crash but force my system to restart?
One quirk with my setup is that I'm using autohotkeys to allow me to use keyboard input for left- and right-mouse clicks. I do this because OOTP's UI is so mouse-centric, and I have arthritic hands that do much better with keyboard input. (Why doesn't OOTP have more hotkeys, and configurable hotkeys?)
Is there a "cut and paste" hotkey alternative to click-and-drag players? Would you consider adding one? CTL-X to 'cut' a player, or ctl-c to 'copy' a player; ctl-v to paste?
Another quirk with my setup is that I use a trackpad, not a mouse, to click-and-drag. (Again, this is easier on my hand that constant click-and-drag with mouse.) This sometimes makes my click-and-drag movements a little jerky. Could this be causing crashes?
I'll go ahead and reinstall a traditional mouse to see if it improves things. But I dearly wish you'd consider adding hotkeys to move players around.
