CHIEFS ACQUIRE SECOND SACKER PETE LAYTON
The Chiefs found their upgrade at second base in New York Stars veteran
Pete Layton. The Chiefs will acquire the 36-year-old Layton for a collection of prospects: OF

John Douglas (AA), P
Mike Sanders (AA), and P
Monk Lemon (A).
Layton has been one of the top second basemen in the league since joining the New York lineup as a regular in 1924. Currently OSA has him ranked as the #2 second baseman in the league (behind Freddie Jones of St. Louis). Layton has won 4 FABL championships with the Stars, and he was named the Championship Series MVP in 1932. He just collected his 2000th FABL hit at the end of May. Overall this season, in 53 games, Layton is hitting .333/.401/.481 with 5 home runs and 33 runs batted in.
