Commonwealth Celebrates 9.9.99
The Commonwealth kicked off festivities all around to celebrate a unique day for people to live. Once every 100 years, there is a triple day, month, and year, and that only happens once every 11 years for the first ten times per century. Our next similar event will be 10.10.10 or 10 October 2310.
As far as baseball is concerned, the Commonwealth Baseball Organization games played today will feature their own special events.
The first game of the day, Diamond City at Quincy, will feature "Catfish Day," where fans are encouraged to wear catfish mustaches. They will also decorate the stadium with drawings and other artwork of the mythical being. Quincy manager Kevin Banner has been advocating for the event, which owner Smiling Larry said he would honor. Banner has also decided that he wants to be called Catfish Banner from now on.
In the second game, Fort Hagen at Starlight, the Starlight Drive-In will show a special premiere screening of Season 1, Episode 1 of the Hubris Comics Studio show featuring Grognak the Barbarian. Season 1,
Grognak the Barbarian: In the Lair of the Virgin Eater, will see Grognak take on Slimy Snake. In Episode 1, "Grognak and the Virgin," Grognak learns that Princess Lusterella was kidnapped from Forni Castle by the supervillain Slimy Snake and brought to his Serpent Lair where lay the great beast, the Virgin Eater. Starlight is also hosting all non-playoff BMU teams to enjoy the screening and the game.
In the final game of the day, Nordhagen Beach at The Slog, Sally Struthers' Tarberry Treats will be serving 9-shaped Tarberry Pies for only 9 caps. Holly Berry's Tarberry Wineyard will also be selling 99-cap bottles of 2296 Tarberry Reserve.
