Trevor Doyle has been named GM and Manager of the Philadelphia Athletics. At just 33 years of age, he will be the youngest GM in the Majors. Not the youngest manager (Lou Boudreau is), but the youngest in charge of the front office. He hopes to bring championship baseball back to Philadelphia, or at least a team that gets close to winning more games than it loses.
Most people in the industry panned the hire, wanting them to hire someone more experienced, but when you haven't had a winning season since 1933 and have only won 70 games once in that time span, you'll try anything to win.
