Analysis

A year ago when these two teams met, Nordhagen Beach entered as the heavy favorites. Instead, they left the series swept and wondering. They were determined to perform better this season, but little did they know that Fort Hagen would still be around. These two teams were like pugilists giving and taking blows for 20 glorious, bloody rounds. Neither team was able to take any of their four series during the season, and we suspect that this 7-game series will work similarly.

The Party Boys were able to cruise through Brotherhood League rivals, the The Slog Ghouls, in a three-game sweep. The Boys from the Beach scored and scored some more in winning their games 10-3, 9-3, and 9-6.

The Silver Shroud struggled a bit with their Institute League opponents in the Starlight Lady Killers. Down 2-0 in the Association Semifinals after dropping games 7-2 and 3-1, they looked to be cooked. Instead, they rallied back, winning two at Starlight, 6-1 and 12-7, before taking Game 5 at home, 7-2.

Keys to Victory for Nordhagen Beach
  • Power triple threat - The home run factory that is Michael Fogcrawler, Jonathan Angelou, and Dustin Mart produces a lot of runs. Keep blasting deep balls and they should be able to score a lot again.
  • Ride the Beach wave - Leading a good starting rotation of Tommy Beach, Chet Arthur, and Julian Shed, Beach is the one emerging as not just a hometown star, but a CBO one. As the ace, he had a few tough games regarding run support, but he is the person the Boys will depend on to beat Fort Hagen's Mike Cartrette.
  • Steady the Pen - The Nordhagen Beach bullpen seems to be up and down. This season, they have been mostly up and even grabbed Tom Mannequin from University Point to short up the bullpen more. Should their bullpen hold on to late leads, every game could potentially be for the Boys.

Keys to Victory for Fort Hagen
  • Pitch around the stars - With the best rotation in the North Charles Association, the three-man plan of Cartrette, Derek Green, and Brent Hooker just needs to hold down the three stars of Nordhagen Beach. Do that, and they can hold NB to under four runs a game on average.
  • Use their own power - The Shroud need to also depend on their three big bombers in Andrew Nuka, Jim Tiller, and David Driftwood to knock in extra runs in key situations.
  • Hit away - Leading the NCA in batting average, the Shroud just need to do what they do best: hit the **** ball! Well Done Dungan, Tiller, and Mark Miller need to keep their average up throughout the series.

Prediction

We have no idea which team to lean towards. Nordhagen Beach had that late perfect game by Tommy Beach, which seemed to boost the Party Boys' morale, spurring them on their current seven-game winning streak. We think the Silver Shroud will bite, claw, and lick their way into a tight race, but we're going to pick the Party Boys to party their way to the Sole Survivor Series with a 4-3 series advantage over Fort Hagen.
