Cedar Rapids scored five runs over the first three innings against St. Louis starting pitcher Jerry Tate, and the Grapplers rode that to a 7-2 win at Busch Stadium (2006).
Eric Garhardt set things in motion for Cedar Rapids, hitting a two-out homer off Tate in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0.
Cedar Rapids struck for two more runs in both the second and third.
Travis Swaggerty led off the second with a double.
He scored when Jordan Batista followed with a single.
Batista later scored on a two-out single from Jose Morillo.
Batista struck again in the third with a two-run homer off Tate to make it 5-0.
It's lead down to 5-2, Batista capped his big day with a two-run single of Jonathan Lucas, who was making his major league debut, in the seventh to give the Grapplers a 7-2 lead.
Cedar Rapids starting pitcher Ivan Alonzo (1-2) earned his first win of the season.
He went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
Four relievers -- Jose Alvarado (1.1 IP), Joel Glenn (0.2), David McLoughlin (1.1) and Alex Tapia (0.2) -- combined to finish the game without allowing a run.
