Bean, Mystic Pines Start Boston Minor Series Strong with Home Win
The Mystic Pines Raybathers started the Boston Minor Series in style today, downing the visiting Trinity Plaza Snipers at Wattz Park by a score of 4-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Raybathers center fielder Bill Bean was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs.
In the bottom of the fifth, Mystic Pines shortstop Reverend Wilson had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Wilson stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 3-2, Mystic Pines. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Raybathers manager Justin Chops said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Wattz Park. Slated to start are Stick Johnson for the Trinity Plaza Snipers and Justin Sphinx for the the Mystic Pines Raybathers.
