Assman, Hancocks Wallop Swatters in Game 5 of ACS
The Goodneighbor Hancocks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Diamond City Swatters, winning 11-2 at The Great Green Jewel today. Hancocks first baseman Bryan Assman went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Hancocks to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Association Championships.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Assman hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Assman told the Goodneighbor Bulletin.
Blain Phrasemaker (0-3 in the postseason) was hammered for the second time in this series. In just 2.2 innings, he allowed six earned runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts. John Oldsink (3-0) got the win by allowing just two earned runs on three hits with six strikouts in 7.0 innings.
Good Don Duck was 4 for 5 with a double and two runs. Jumper Hayes and Zach Utsinger both homered. Diamond City's runs both came on solo home runs by Oren Gep and Wally Warwick.
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th, 2299 at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS. Slated to start are Tim Fusion for the Diamond City Swatters and Matt Pageturner for the the Goodneighbor Hancocks.
