Brian Dorsett was yet another 1980s backup catcher. Dorsett took a while to get his bat going in the minors, but he made it to the bigs for a look with the 1987 Indians. Fortunately for his career and his sanity, Dorsett wound up in the Angels system in the following season and he had an outstanding year at AAA Edmonton. Dorsett hit just .091 for the Angels in '88, but he hung around on the fringes of the big leagues until 1996 without ever getting a chance to play regularly. This was a pity, because Dorsett's AAA stats suggest that he could hit; he posted consistently good slugging and OBP percentages at that level.
