At least the Mets got *something* back in that trade. Steve Henderson broke out big right away and finished 2nd in ROTY voting, and Pat Zachry looked like a really good young pitcher (injuries did him in? I wasn't even alive back then...).

Jim Fregosi was a DISASTER for the Mets, who shed not only the meaty part of Nolan Ryan's legendary inner-circle Hall of Fame career, but also three other players on top of that! (Even though only Leroy Stanton had any sort of career in the majors. Don Rose washed out fast, and Frank Estrada never played in the majors again after the trade - and only one game with the Mets before it.)

At least the Midnight Massacre traded away an 11-year veteran for young stuff. The Fregosi trade shed tremendous young talent for bleeping Jim Fregosi, who didn't hit anything and from what I can see in defensive stats was also challenged with the glove...!

Yes, bystanders. This is something that Mets fans love to do. Ranking our many, many catastrophic traumas by severity and how long it made us bleed profusely. You lot keep talking about which of your dynasties was the greatest, we're busy crying over here.
