"It's Time": Concord's Leftswipe Thinks He's Ready for CBO
Drafted in the 21st round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft, College Square Nerd Ragers centerfielder Gene Leftswipe thinks the time has come to make the move from BMU to CBO. Currently rated the #100 prospect on the Top 100 list, the 21-year-old said he is much better than that.
"I'm ready, and it's time," he stated in an ESAU-sent interview response. "I've improved every year. I hit almost .400. I deserve a shot."
Leftswipe finished the 2299 season with a .381 average, which would have led the BMU. However, injuries and another top prospect in the organization, CF/SP Jared Zaccone, limited Leftswipe to only 56 appearances with 23 starts. Many of those starts came when Zaccone was the starting pitcher. Still, when on the field, Leftswipe proved to be good.
"We have the problem of having two talented CFs in College Square and then we have Ricky Ticky Laughy here," Concord manager Mark Gourdroot said.
The Radstags front office has indicated that the team would like to be active in improving talent, so looking at the competing centerfielders may be the place to look. All three are a similar age, so Leftswipe may end up being the odd player out.
Oberland-Nordhagen Beach: Big Trade
The rumor has been out there for a while now and today it was made official. The Oberland T-51s have sent 28-year-old RF Ginger Rogers, 31-year-old RHP Matt Breakball and 30-year-old RHP Matt Ranger to the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys for 21-year-old minor league RF Muddy Barbano, 20-year-old minor league 2B Paul Warwick and 22-year-old 3B Ryan Bale.
Nordhagen Beach gets three veterans to help solidify its team heading into the 2300 season. Lifetime Rogers has played in 336 games, batted .251 with 92 home runs and 335 base hits.In 117 relief appearances, Breakball has a record of 12-12 with 12 saves and a 4.61 ERA. Ranger has a lifetime record of 37-37 with one save. He has appeared in 95 games, starting 94. His career ERA is 5.56.
None of the three prospects traded away from the Party Boys were expected to make a dent on the team, though they could help Oberland in its rebuild. Bale was on the CBO team with Nordhagen Beach, appearing in 35 games and starting four. He batted .293 on 12 for 41 hitting with six doubles and a triple. Coaches describe Bale as "brash" and were looking to offload him after several players complained about his behavior.
