Unhappy July 22, 2022 Team Update!

We are now sitting at 35-55, but surprisingly not lost in the AL West (poor Oakland is 30-61). This puts us in 4th last right now.

Back on June 24th, we lost Whit Merrifield to an elbow injury. He should be ready for rehab assignment in 5 days.

We also lost Andrew McCutchen for 1-2 weeks, so Davis Wendzel (former 41st overall pick in 2019) got his first MLB callup.

We had three All Star Game selections this year!
Here is a look at the year Michael King is having.

Another All Star is rookie reliever Durbin Feltman.
He has pitched in 38 games so far with an ERA of 2.06 (3.73 FIP) and a WHIP of 0.94 (2.4 BB/9).

Our third All Star is reliever Brett Martin.
He has an ERA of 1.70 at the All Star break! (He did give up a homer to Manny Machado in the ASG)

We had three of our prospects in the MLB Futures Game!
Kumar Rocker is now up in AAA and looks ready for MLB debut soon.
Maximo Acosta is tearing the cover off the ball. He started the year in the DSL and has now played in 27 games in low A (turns 20 late October).
His combined OPS for 2022 is 1.071. I am very tempted to promote him to A+ for the remainder of the season.

Nick Mikolajchak is a reliever we got as a "throw-in" to the Michael King - Tony Kemp trade.
He is having an abysmal season in AA and I do not understand why, but he made it to the Futures Game.
In 22 innings he has allowed 9 homeruns (our scout has him at 45/45 movement on 20/80 scale).
His ERA sits above 10 (8.36 FIP) and a WAR of -1.5.
I was hoping he would be ready for AAA by now (turns 25 in November).

Also, we have decided to trade Nate Lowe to the LAD. Here is the trade we ended up making.

Lowe was better in June (.762 OPS), but it felt like it was time to get value out of him before his stock plummeted.

Here is a look at Blake Rutherford. We need better production from our OF and this frees up some at bats at the DH/1B spot.

Here is a look at Jacob Amaya. We needed an infield bench bat to replace Andy Ibanez (OPS of .554 in 174 MLB PAs).
Amaya also has average OF ratings (55 range, 55 error and 50 arm), but we really like his bat more than his glove.

We are a little more than a week from trade deadline day.
Let's see if we can make some more changes and have a better second half!
