Chuck Knoblauch
I have had this photo saved for a long time. It is of Chuck Knoblauch who for an excellent 7 year stretch looked like a potential Hall of Famer. Here is an image of the young second baseman suiting up for the Wareham Gateman of the Cape Cod league circa 1988. After an outstanding career at Texas A@M , Chuck led the league that Massachusetts summer hitting .361. He hit .304 as a Twin with a generous amount of doubles, triples and stolen bases. Perhaps if he stayed in the Twin Cities ... As a Yankee Chuck Knoblauch was a solid if ordinary hitter . A speedy Tim Teufel. Then his as his bat faded the defense went south and throwing to first base became a mental struggle. Still I remember him as player I enjoyed watching . The poor man's Paul Molitor. An offensive force they were as teammates. His career ended poorly and life after baseball has not been complimentary of him. In my Baseball Mogul Diamond game I build expansion teams incessantly and with this Wareham card I always make Chuck Knoblauch a Washington Senator with brightened colors.
