Regarding selling players from this screen, another issue is that if you right click -> auction player -> quicksell from the auction screen and click OK, you sometimes (but not always) get a dialog saying something like "The player has been sold!".
My feeling is that if you quicksell a player you don't need an additional dialog telling you that he sold.
