MBL news: Sept. 18 -- Grand Rapids wraps up AL West title
The Grand Rapids Traders became the first team to clinch a postseason berth in the 2033 season, as a 12-1 rout of Dayton clinched them the American League West championship.
The win improved the Traders to 91-57, some 15 games in front of both Indianapolis and Evansville.
Grand Rapids owns a five-game lead over AL East Division leader Cleveland for home-field advantage in the AL championship series.
It is the fifth time the Traders have reached the playoffs. They have never advanced to the World Series.
