October 27, 2034: World Series Game 3

Back on top...

Andy Aparicio, clutch pitcher. Coming off his incredible no-hitter in the ALCS he nearly followed that up with a shutout in a 3-2 win over the Dodgers which put the Rays back ahead 2-1 in the series. He held LA scoreless into the 9th and had 2 out before walking Dauri Lorenzo. With his pitch count approaching 120 I probably should have taken him out but with a 3-run lead I left him in hoping he'd get the shutout. Fernando Tatis Jr. had other ideas and took him deep to make things a little too interesting, but Kikuo Kawase came in and whiffed the front-runner for this year's NL MVP, Kevin Crater, on 3 pitches to end the game. The offense struck early and then took the rest of the game off to watch Aparicio, but Danny Ayala, whom I called out for not hitting this postseason, was 2-3 and scored 2 of their runs. Jon Jimenez drove him home twice, once on a single (which saw Bo Angeac thrown out at the plate behind Ayala) and on a sac fly. Nate Schultz will try to replicate his great ALCS Game 7 performance to give the Rays a commanding series lead in Game 4.
