The first two years were basically getting the league into alignment with a lot of "interference" to balance out teams. I certainly helped out a followed team or two with trades in their favor, and I made some behind-the-scenes tweaks to prevent teams from being way too successful. I probably should have done the same for some of the bottom teams, too, but based on my test leagues, those teams will find success soon. Not in 2300, but in time there will be some changes to the CBO where the good teams start being the bad teams and then flip again. That is exactly how I want the league balanced. I want to see every team in the playoffs within a 10-year period and few back-to-back championships.
In 2300, I currently feel like there is no sure team based on results so far. I have no idea who to pinpoint as a team bound for the playoffs. All of Fort Hagen, Nordhagen Beach, and Diamond City could make the playoffs, and all three could miss them. Vault 81 currently has the top record, but I am not sure if they are actually the best team. The way they're pitching so far, they may be.
Another factor I am curious to see how it works out for the CBO is that 5th team in the playoffs. I am wondering if that will somehow throw off the balance, but I am looking forward to one additional playoff series per association.
In all, so far, 2300 has been the best season yet with the number of teams that legitimately appear that they can win their divisions. Some teams like Oberland and Concord are currently playing above their talent, while a team like Starlight is playing well below its talent.
