Walkers news: July 2 -- Akron 3, St. Louis 2, 12 innings

Akron's Joey Wilson and Victor Romero hit back-to-back doubles with one out in the bottom of the 12th inning off St. Louis reliever Zachary Stella to lift the Flying Feet to a 3-2 win at Candlestick Park.
Stella got the lead-off batter, John Polk, to ground out.
But Wilson hit a 3-2 pitch into the gap into right field to move into scoring position.
Romero then smacked a 3-1 pitched into the same gap to win it.
The River Walkers had forced extra innings when Freudis Nova hit his second solo home run of the game with one out in the top of the eighth off reliever Jeremy Bangs.
Akron starting pitcher Benjamin Wiegman lasted five innings, allowing one run on four hits.
After that seven relievers took the mound for the Flying Feet.
Jose Tapia, Tom Ross, Bangs and Phil Luis all pitched one inning.
Antonio Gonzalez didn't allow a base runner over 2.1 innings.
Braxton Ashcraft (6-1) earned his sixth win of the season after working a 1-2-3 top of the 12th.
