Walkers news: June 3 -- St. Louis 8, Akron 1

Record: 31-26, 4th, 6.5 GB Cedar Rapids
St. Louis scored at least one run in five of the first six innings, paving the way for an 8-1 win over Akron at Candlestick Park.
The River Walkers scored single runs in each of the first three innings, going up 3-0.
Dan Hillard hit a solo homer off Flying Feet starting pitcher Joel Thomas in the first.
Jared Thomas led off the second with a double, and scored on a Jose Ramirez double.
Hillard doubled with one out off Thomas in the third, and scored on a Nick Shaw single.
After not scoring in the fourth, and its lead shrinking to 3-1, St. Louis tallied twice in the fifth.
Jose Segura led off the inning with a triple off Thomas. He scored on a Shaw fly ball.
Jared Thomas followed with a single.
A Daniel Becerra single moved Thomas to third.
Ramirez collected his second RBI of the game with a fly ball to right.
Nathaniel Dixon made it 6-1 with a solo homer off Jose Tapia in the sixth.
St. Louis added to its advantage with two runs in the eighth.
Segura (fly ball) and Shaw (RBI double) drove in the runs off Tom Ross.
After a rough start to his season, St. Louis starting pitcher Angel Tiburcio turned in his third straight impressive start since coming off the injured list.
Tiburcio (3-1) worked the first six innings, allowing one run on eight hits. He struck out seven and walked two.
Single scoreless innings from Oscar Martinez, Gil Meier and Josh Forgy closed out the win.
