8 May - Fireball Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games: Win or lose, Steve Fireball just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 1 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games.
The Dark Bloodworms left fielder went 1-for-4 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 8-4 by the Quartz Star Force at Ol' Sugartop Ballpark at Dry Rock Gulch.
"It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him."
Steve Fireball flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This season Fireball is batting .473 with 44 hits, 2 home runs, 15 RBIs, 4 walks, .495 OBP and has scored 23 runs. He has played in 20 games.
9 May - Hodges Holds Grape Scoreless: Justin Hodges made it look easy today. The Cherry Ghoulrillas right-hander shut down the Grape Painted Ghouls 5-0 on 6 hits at Grandchester Mystery Mansion Park today. For the game, Hodges recorded 10 strikeouts and no walks.
"It was a good team effort today," Hodges said. "I pitched well, guys behind me had some nice plays and we put up enough runs to go home on time."
So far this year Hodges has 3 wins and 2 losses and a 2.66 ERA.
12 May - Injury Brings Season to End for Tech: The news was not unexpected, but that didn't make it easier to accept for the Dark Bloodworms: starting pitcher David Tech is out for the year. Tech suffered an arthritic elbow on 05/09/2300. The team knew that the chances of seeing him return were slim to none. But today it was made official.
For the year Tech has a 4-0 record with a 1.63 ERA in 6 starts.
Cave Crickets, Diner Stonewall Quartz, 4-0: Victory Cave Crickets hurler John Diner was at his best as he whitewashed the Quartz Star Force 4-0 today.
"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said Quartz manager Nick Caudill. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."
Diner fired a 2-hitter and totaled 5 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout performance.
So far in 8 appearances this season, Diner has recorded 5 wins and sustained no losses. He has pitched 56.2 innings, yielded 35 hits, fanned 38 and has a 0.95 ERA.
14 May - Mike Drummerboy Captures NWL Award: Mike Drummerboy burst onto the Nuka World League stage in a big way last week. This promising rookie catcher for Wild garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy.
The 21-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .444 (8-for-18) with no home runs and 10 RBIs last week.
This year Drummerboy has hit 4 home runs and posted a .397 batting average.
