Walkers news: June 11 -- Springfield 8, St. Louis 3

Record: 34-30, 4th, 6.5 GB Cedar Rapids
Springfield scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and gradually built itself an 8-0 lead, on its way to completing a three-game sweep of St. Louis with an 8-3 win at Oracle Park (2020).
Joseph Hughes staked the Railers to a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off River Walkers starting pitcher Jesse McNaboe in the first.
The lead grew to 3-0 in the fourth, when Justin Schneider hit his fourth homer of the series this one off McNaboe.
Ryan West led off the bottom of the fifth with a double off McNaboe.
West stole third, and when catcher Justin Thomas' throw landed in left field it was soon 4-0.
The Railers busted the game open with a four-run sixth.
Hughes got it going with a one-out double off McNaboe.
He scored when the next batter, Riley Greene, singled.
A West single plated Greene with the second run of the inning.
It also chased McNaoboe
Reliever Oscar Martinez took some lump as well, giving up a two-run double to the first batter he faced, Ben Rortvedt.
Jose Segura accounted for all three St. Louis' runs with a homer off reliever Eric Deese in the top of the seventh.
Railers starting pitcher Ewdy Alex handled the first 5.2 innings, not allowing a run on six hits.
Deese pitched a scoreless inning.
After that it was Carlos Aquirre (1.1 IP) and Alan Albanese (1.0).
