1985 - ALCS Preview

The American League Championship will feature the Seattle Mariners against the Cleveland Indians. Both teams sported identical 104-58 records during the regular season. The Mariners will have home field advantage thanks to their 7-5 record against the Indians. The Mariners sport one of the top offenses in the league, leading the AL in Runs, Batting Avg. and OB% while second in HR's. The Indians offense was right behind in runs but had 60 fewer HR's than the Mariners. Both teams sport strong starting rotations but the Indians sported the top bullpen in the AL which featured closer Mark Littell (5-3, 1.29 ERA, 47 Saves, 98 K's in 77 IP). The Indians will be without rookie sensation Andres Galarraga (.299, 23 HR's, 98 RBI's) who was lost at the end of September with an abdominal strain.

Game 1: Mark Gubicza, CLE (15-15, 3.70) vs. Bill Gullickson, SEA (21-3, 2.75)
