The Rays fought back but they couldn't overcome a poor start from Yonny Chirinos, whom as the recap above notes, was tormented by Mike Trout. Yonny put them in a 5-0 hole and despite the best efforts of the bats (especially Vidal Brujan, 4-4 with a double and a triple), the Angels held on to win 6-4 and even the ALCS at a game apiece. Aaron Fletcher was also victimized by an inside-the-park homer from Jared Walsh in the 8th. So we head to Anaheim in two days with Tyler Glasnow taking the ball and hoping to replicate his Game 5 ALDS performance.
In the NLCS opener:
The Dodgers break open a tie game in the 7th and take a 1-0 series lead as they take advantage of Milwaukee's bullpen after Corbin Burnes departed.
