As for the super plays in the outfield, I think that most of the times if you read the PbP text it's something along the lines of a simple running catch. It's because the 3D animation is just an approximation of the PbP text, and doesn't always display accurately what actually happened.

Haven't used the PBP for several years now... in animation the players seem to make too many diving catches... don't think it happens in real life as much... but I could be wrong... casual observation and small samples can be misleading.
