First of all Danny Ayala was named AL Player of the Week for his 4 homers and overall performance. Here are the standings and leaders going into the season's final week:
Kansas City has pulled away a bit (2 games) from Minnesota and may even win the division with a winning record. Seattle is all but set as a wild card and Texas is in very good shape too. Only real race in the NL is in the East with Washington winning 7 straight and tying Columbus over the weekend before the Lightning beat them yesterday to regain a 1-game lead. The loser will not have a wild card to fall back on. Colorado has a slight chance of overtaking San Diego for the second wild card, and they're being led by Zach Mathias, who leads the NL in batting average. Mathias was our first round pick several years back and was dealt to the Rockies in the offseason.
