Tied 2-2, Quad City blasted the St. Louis' bullpen for five runs in the top of the seventh inning, and the Thunder went on to defeat the River Walkers 7-4 at Busch Stadium (2006).
Rookie reliever Greg Sones was on the mound when the Thunder busted loose.
Angel Solis led off with a single, followed by a walk to Tim Tawa.
Clay Owens then singled to load the bases.
The spelled the end for Sones' outing.
Luke Dunkin took the ball for the Walkers and got pinch-hitter Andrew Lee to hit into a fielder's choice, with Solis being thrown out at the plate.
Adam Ferrara, however, followed with a two-run double, making it 4-2.
Dunkin followed that with a strikeout of Chris Shelley.
Jacob Gonzalez was given an intentional walk, loading the bases.
Paul Totten blew up that strategy with a two-run single.
Ben Nelson capped the outburst with another single.
St. Louis did get within 7-4 after a two-run homer from Jose Segura, off Russell Berg, in the seventh, but that was the end of the scoring.
QC starting pitcher Mike Koontz, lasted 4.2 innings allowing one run on three hits.
Drew Mendoza finished the fifth inning.
Scott Reeves (1-0) blew the lead in the sixth, but still earned the win.
Berg got the first tow outs of the seventh.
Matt Evanson got the final out of the seventh, and worked a scoreless eighth.
Craig Fritzler handled the ninth for his 46th save.
