Walkers news: Sept. 30 -- St. Louis 8, Quad City 4

Tied 3-3, St. Louis busted loose for four runs in the top of the fifth inning, and the River Walkers went on to defeat the Thunder 8-4 at Busch Stadium (2006).
Dan Hillard got things got things rolling for St. Louis with a lead-off single of QC starting pitcher Andres Garcia.
Chris Duncan followed with a double, with Hillard stopping at third.
Pitcher Kyle Smarr got down a bunt, with Hillard crossing the plate.
Bob Saavedra connected on a double, with both Duncan and Smarr crossing the plate.
Dante Mendoza replaced Garcia on the mound for the Thunder.
He was on the mound when Saavedra scored when Nick Shaw hit into a fielder's choice.
The Walkers pushed their lead to 8-3 in the seventh.
Saavedra scored again.
He drew a lead-off walk from Troy Repasky.
Saavedra scored on a Shaw single.
Getting a spot start after finishing the season at Memphis, Smarr allowed three runs on six hits over six innings.
David Amocacci worked a scoreless seventh.
Justin O'Rourke got the ball to start the eighth, but allowed a pair of hits and walk before being yanked.
Zachary Stella finished off the rest of the eighth and got the first out of the ninth.
Scott Rissler did the rest to wrap up the win for the Walkers.
