I wasn't looking to make a deal at the deadline, but in a rare case of getting a trade offer from the AI which made sense and addressed a need, I made this deal just before the deadline (with the only difference from the original offer having Detroit pick up 35% of his salary):
Clevinger isn't the ace he was in the late teens with Cleveland, and he did miss the last two seasons with injury after being traded to San Diego, but he's still a useful starting pitcher. That, coupled with the less than impressive start from Justin Dunn we just got, motivated me to accept the offer. I know I didn't give Dunn much of a chance, but the deadline was here. Dunn will go back to middle relief. Clevinger is a free agent at year's end so this is purely a rental. Among those traded away, only Doxakis looks like a decent bet to be a big leaguer and he seems like a potential 5th starter/swingman to me.
Also this remarkable game took place:
Since there's never been a double no-hitter, this ties the MLB record of fewest hits combined for both teams in a game (1), set in
this game.
