  • 9th: Cards 2B Gene Baker goes 5-for-5, but can’t stop his side losing 8-5 to the Giants.
  • 10th: Hector Lopez cracks his first two homers of the season to lead the White Sox to a tight 7-6 win at Washington.
  • 11th: the Doves post a 6-spot in the top 11th to get past the Reds 8-2.
  • 19th: Billy Loes pitches a superb 1-hitter as the Phillies take down the Pirates 5-0. Across in the junior circuit, Dave Burba of the Americans blanks the White Sox on 3 hits with 8 strikeouts in a 3-0 win, while Bob Forsch hurls a 2-hitter against the Naps in a 5-0 victory for the Sens.
  • 26th: just as I was thinking to myself what an uneventful month it has been, Boston’s Heinie Berger throws the FL’s 4th no-hitter (and first since ’04) to beat the Giants 1-0.
  • 28th: A big game by second-baseman Ray Mack, in which he has 4 hits including a double and a triple, as well as 4 RBI, leads the Browns to a 13-1 whipping of the White Sox.
