Walkers news: July 2 -- St. Louis 4, Des Moines 1

Record: 48-36, 1st/(Tied/w. Cedar Rapids), 4 GA Springfield
Shane Drogo allowed one run over seven innings and Bob Saavedra had his second consecutive four-hit game, as St. Louis downed Des Moines 4-1 at Busch Stadium (2006).
Drogo (5-5) allowed just the one run -- a Jared Poland homer in the top of the fifth which made it 2-1 -- on three hits in his seven innings. He struck out five and walked just one.
Nick Ruffalo pitched a scoreless eighth. Nick Strother did the same in the ninth for his 14th save.
Saavedra, who had gone 4 for 5 in an 8-3 win at Kansas City the day before, duplicated that effort.
This time, he opened his day with a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first inning off Harvesters starting pitcher Keith Talley.
His other three hits were all singles, including one in the bottom of the eighth off Mark Polzin which drove in St. Louis' final run.
The Walkers scored twice in that eighth, Chris Duncan plating the first run with a double.
St. Louis went up 2-0 in the bottom of the third.
Manuel Coke led off with a single off Talley.
He scored on an Jose Ramirez double.
