Nuka News Update

All the news you need about Bradberton and Nuka World

News of the Week

20 June - Cave Crickets Caban Calling it Quits: Tony Caban said he's looking forward to getting home to Brooklyn, New York to relax and unwind.

At age 36, the Victory Cave Crickets player has announced he will retire at the end of the season.

"I'm thankful for my time in Nuka World League, but all good things must come to an end," he said.

20 June - Lurkcakes Stretches Hit String to 20: Random Lurkcakes of the Cherry Ghoulrillas tagged 3 hits in today's 6-1 loss to the Dark Bloodworms at Grandchester Mystery Mansion Park to run his hitting streak to 20 straight games.

"I realize it's unlikely to have a 20-game streak and not have a couple losses mixed in," he said later. "But it still takes the fun out of it."
Random Lurkcakes singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

Lurkcakes is hitting at a .394 mark this season. His stats show no home runs, 35 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has played 57 games for the Ghoulrillas.

21 June - Cave Crickets Chill Harris's Hot Streak: It was the best of both worlds for the Victory Cave Crickets today at John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field, as they defeated the Orange Tourists 7-5 and also snapped Die Harris's 23-game hitting streak. The 20-year-old Orange first baseman failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats.

"Nothing personal against Harris, we just wanted to win the game," said Cave Crickets skipper Gogetem Thompson. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Harris frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."

Harris is currently batting .362 with 3 home runs and 32 RBIs.

22 June - #99 by Fireball Puts Name Atop Hit List: After a record-setting game at Star Core Stadium at the Galactic Zone Steve Fireball told reporters, "Wow, 99 is a bunch of hits. This has been a very special season. Who would've thunk it? Can you believe I broke the record of Die Harris?... now he was some kind of hitter." The gifted Dark star hitter is also some kind of hitter, too. Fireball now possesses the league record for hits in a season with 99.

Steve Fireball singled in the 1st.

Presently Fireball is batting .406 with 2 home runs and 20 RBIs. He has played in 55 games and scored 57 times.

23 June - Painted Ghouls Chill Lurkcakes's Hot Streak: It was a doubly miserable day today for Random Lurkcakes of the Cherry Ghoulrillas, as he saw his 21-game hitting streak end and his team lose 9-4 to the Grape Painted Ghouls at King Cola Park at Kiddie Kingdom. The 29-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Painted Ghouls.

"Anyone on a 21-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Grape manager Joel Pocketwatch said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done."

This year Lurkcakes has hit at a .388 clip with 97 hits, no home runs, 35 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

24 June - Season Over for Follett: Clearly dejected, Jeremy Follett left the Grape clubhouse nearly in tears this afternoon. He acknowledged that his season is over after sustaining a torn ulnar collateral ligament in a ballgame recently. It brings an early end to the Grape reliever's season.

This season Follett is 0-and-1 with 1 save and a 3.49 ERA. He has given up 25 hits in 28.1 innings with 27 strikeouts.
