May 24: Activated SS Jeff Baez from the 10-day IL and P Jeff Reece from his rehab assignment at AAA Durham; optioned IF Quincy Siegle and P Jose Mendoza to AAA Durham.

Game 1: The Rays were reunited with their long-time catcher Will Quintana, and he used his knowledge of Tim Gates' repertoire to blast a 2-run homer to help Columbus beat the Rays 5-4. Gates surrendered a total of 3 longballs and the final one broke a 4-4 tie in the 6th as he finished 5.2 9 5 5 1 4 and dropped his second straight start, tripling the number of losses he's suffered as a Ray. Offensively they did a good job of fighting back against 2-time reigning NL Cy Young winner Josh Doyle, with Jon Jimenez, Omar Rodriguez and Danny Ayala each getting 2 hits and an RBI.

Game 2: The Rays came back late to salvage a split of the 2-game mini-series win a 3-2 win over the Lightning. Jeff Baez singled in the winning run in the top of the 8th after Omar Rodriguez delivered a 2-run double in the 7th to tie the game. Tampa Bay got a strong start from Jeremy Curtis, who overcame allowing a 2-run homer in the 1st to finish 6 4 2 2 1 5 and keep his ERA at 2.86, while Ken Burgess picked up win #2 in relief and Kikuo Kawase struck out the side around a single for save #10.

Team record: 30-14. Next up: The Lightning accompany us back to Publix Park for 2 games there.
