Walkers news: Sept. 22 -- St. Louis 5, Akron 2

Jesse McNaboe allowed two runs on nine hits in just over six innings en route to his 16th win of the season as St. Louis defeated Akron 5-2 at Candlestick Park (1993).
McNaboe (16-5), who may have been making his final start of the season, gave up a run in the first and a single that turned into a run in the seventh. He struck out five and walked one in his 6.1 innings.
The Flying Feet jumped in front 1-0 in the bottom of the first, when Adam Vargas drew a two-out walk from McNaboe and scored on a John Polk double.
In the seventh, McNaboe allowed a lead-off double to John Roberson.
Roberson scored when the next hitter, TJ Reeves, reached on a throwing error by River Walkers third baseman Bob Saavedra.
McNaboe then got Bill Savage to ground out before exiting the game.
Nick Ruffalo took over and struck out the next two to keep the scoring 4-2 in favor of St. Louis.
The Walkers went in front in the top of the fourth.
Feet starting pitcher Mat Alfaro struck out the inning's first two batters, before hitting Jose Ramirez with a pitch.
Nick Shaw followed with a double, scoring Ramirez to tie the score.
Jackson Miller plated Shaw with a triple as St. Louis went in front 2-1.
Aaron Nixon added a run to the Walkers' lead in the fifth.
He singled with one out, stole second, moving to third on a throwing error by Vargas, the catcher.
McNaboe then scored Nixon with a sacrifice bunt.
Nixon scored another run in the seventh in similar fashion.
This time he singled off reliever Santiago Snyder.
He again stole second base.
McNaboe drove him in for a second time, in this instance with a two-out single.
Rookie Manuel Coke added the game's final run when he led off the top of the eighth with his 22nd home run of the season. It came off Joel Thomas.
After getting out of the seventh-inning jam, Ruffalo returned to the mound for the Walkers in the eighth.
He retired the lead off batter.
Scott Rissler came on to finish the inning.
The ninth belonged to Bobby Westerman, who sent Akron down in order for his 12th save in 12 tries since joining St. Louis in late July.
