Most of these were already mentioned already, but here is my wish list:
1.a (very important imo). Ability to create a new league on July 1.

1.b. Have option, when creating a new team, to not have the AI automatically fill that team with fictional staff. Give team a fictional owner. Thats it, but keep the HC, GM, assistants, trainer, and scouts position empty, until the owner hires a GM and the GM hires his other staff.

1c. ability to easily move teams from one league to another ie. SPHL or FPHL team gets bought by an NHL team (fictional in my head storyline) and moves to the AHL or ECHL with NHL team affiliation.

2a. Ability to know before hand what a player is thinking about doing in offseason. Say you have an older player. hes still doing good. Maybe hes leaning towards retirement. if he is, maybe have the ability to talk him into one more year.
2b. If a player does retire, have the option to manually turn him into either a scout or coach.

2c. Maybe add a storyline to this... for example: "Ryan Getzlaf has announced his retirement from pro hockey, and signed on as the new head coach of his hometown Regina Pats." If you run a jr team, and you need a coach, have the ability to look at the "old" players either on contract or free agent and see what there their retirement status is, and are they interested in coaching. if both are high, you can enter negotiations with said player.

3. More emphasis on the non playable leagues. Make realistic stats, and rosters. Ive noticed that players in non playable leagues hardly have anything. low GP, and not realistic goals and assists. Hell a goalie in a non playable league might get 5 games played in a season.
There could be a hot shot goalie playing in the AJHL or BCHL that I might be interested in drafting. how did my scouts scout him when hes only played 5 games. How can I trust my scouts if they've only seen him play 5 of less games?

4. Have the ability to edit non playable leagues. Add or remove teams, edit league rules (for statistics purposes) and have the AI keep these rosters full

For clarity on this, and this does happen. Lets say in year 2027, I decide that the University of Michigan dissolves their hockey program? on flip side maybe in 2025 I decide the University of Montana entered the college hockey world?

it may be too late to have #2 implemented for next years game. food for thought for FHM 9 though.
