Too much drama...
The good news: The Rays won Game 1 of the ALDS. The bad news: They lost Jaiden Hardaway for the playoffs. The four-time (and soon to be five-time) MVP ruptured his finger on a collision at second base in the top of the 7th and will be out 6 months, meaning he'll return just after the start of next season. It's a tough blow as the Rays have now lost their best hitter and arguably their best pitcher in Ron Adams. Some might say Danny Romero has that distinction but he didn't look it tonight, giving up 6 runs and once again the Jays pounded one of our lefties in the playoffs. But this time the Rays were able to come back from it thanks to the guy who replaced Hardaway in the top of the inning, Ramon Ruiz, who drilled a 3-run homer to make it 8-6 Rays. The bullpen came through with Damani Cotton going 2 1/3 scoreless and picking up the win, and Kikuo Kawase got 5 outs on only 13 pitches, meaning he'll be available again tomorrow if needed.
