They did it, they survived the ALDS. That usually means a forthcoming World Series win as the Rays have made the playoffs in all 19 seasons in this save, and in only 3 of them did they not lose in the ALDS or win the Series: 2021 vs Toronto (lost wild card game), 2024 vs the Dodgers (lost World Series) and 2027 vs the Angels (lost ALCS). Otherwise it's 9 Series wins and 6 ALDS losses. They got over the hump this year thanks to a decent outing from Danny Romero (2 runs in 6 innings by a lefty against Toronto is quite decent), 3 homers (Daniel Malone's 3-run shot in the 2nd after 2 out and nobody on was the big one) and a rare 2-inning save from Kikuo Kawase which might be even rarer for featuring no strikeouts (and on only 19 pitches). So they'll face the White Sox for the first time in the playoffs in this save, the first team the franchise ever faced in the playoffs back in 2008.
