Especially for a geezer (59) like me, play-by-mail evokes certain fond memories of chess by mail in the 70's and early 80's. There's a certain amount of patience and trust involved, and it would be chaotic with more than probably 4 players, but it is a quick and simple thing to do for just the two of us.
It ain't perfect, but a whole bunch of the issues become irrelevant. BTW, slap me if I already posted this somewhere else...

Yes, lots of people play like that. I’m in a league like that as well. I’m talking about playing out actual games face to face, a la SOM leagues back in the day.
