Post Late June Team Update!!!

We are currently sitting at 41-32 and we are 3 1/2 games back of the Angels in the AL West! Here is a look at some of our team stats so far.

As you can see, we need to add some more hitters to our lineup.
Our pitching has been excellent, but we have a few recent injuries.

Jonathan Loaisiga is still out for another 8-9 weeks with a back injury.
Hans Crouse has been called up to take his spot in the rotation.

Brett DeGeus is still out for another 3 weeks with elbow inflammation.
Zac Lowther is back from injury rehab and has replaced DeGeus.

Let's take a look at how our hitters have fared so far this season.

Tommy Pham has been an excellent addition, although he is fragile and did miss 5 weeks with an ankle injury.

Steele Walker had a very rough April (OPS of .627), but when Pham got hurt he got hot. He had an OPS in May of .958 and sitting at 1.020 for June.

Terrin Vavra has cooled down after a hot start to the year. He is only hitting for an OPS of .688 in June.

Gio Urshella has done exactly what we expected him to do so far.

Austin Hedges is catching when Rocker and King are pitching, but his numbers are inflated by a big April (.992 OPS in 38 PAs).

Blake Rutherford struggled out the gate, but has picked it up lately. He had a batting average of .294 in May and an OPS of .843 in June so far.

Josh Jung must have left his good lumber back in Spring Training. After tearing the literal cover off the ball in ST (.406/.449/.594 for an OPS of 1.043!!!) he has not got it going at all in regular season.
After having an OPS of .810 last year, we expect more from him.

Ali Sanchez, Leody Taveras and Yin-zhen Kim are all glove first players. Their defensive value certainly does not go unnoticed.

Evan Russell was called up when Pham was injured and is back down in AAA (for now).

Now let's take a look at the pitching staff!

It all starts with our ace, Kumar Rocker. He is on pace for a 5 WAR season and sits second in AL in strikeouts (behind Giolito).

Kohei Arihara is having another very nice season. Opponents are only hitting for a .657 OPS off him.

DeMarcus Evans has been unhittable this season. His 362 ERA+ is 5th best in MLB with pitchers with at least 20 innings so far!

Adrian Morejon has done a better job at limiting walks and homers this season, resulting in an excellent start to the season. He has 0.9 WAR in less than half a season out of the bullpen and he only has one save!

Ronny Henriquez, although he walks too many for my liking, has had an excellent season so far.

Nick Mikolajchak is having an underrated season. With an ERA around 4 and HR/9 of 1.6, it may not appear that impressive. But with a BB/9 of only 2.2 and K/9 over 13, he is slowly gaining more trust. His FIP is only 3.49 also.

Kevin Ginkel continues to just get results. Since we claimed him off waivers prior to 2022, he is now putting together his third season in a row with a sub 3 ERA. This year, his FIP is only 2.53!

One last thing to update everyone on is our top draft picks from the 2024 draft!

With the 26th pick, we have selected Jeremy Houk, a HS CF from California.

With the 39th pick, we have selected Pete Raybon, a HS starting pitcher from Ohio.
