Val Guzman came off the All-Star break on fire, hitting home runs in each of the first three games and getting Player of the Week honors in the process. Val is now tied with Brooklyn's Danny Salvador for the lead in home runs in the MGL with 18. (Val's single season high in this category was 20 in 1979 so it appears he will easily smash his personal single season record this season.)
Guzman started in left field, voted in by the fans, for the MGL All-Star squad and went 1 for 3 with a 7th inning double in the loss to the SJL. (Matt Van der Heyden was the hero much to the joy of the partisan crowd at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Field as he hit the big 1st inning 3-run home run that put the SJL up for good in what turned out to be a 7-2 victory.)
