Sean Hopkins limited St Louis to one run over the first seven innings and Des Moines downed the River Walkers 6-1 in the second game of a doubleheader at Busch Stadium (2006).
Hopkins (2-1) allowed one run on seven hits during his time on the mound. He struck out six and walked one.
The Harvesters took control by scoring a pair of runs off St. Louis starting pitcher Xavier Wigfall in top of both the second and third innings.
Des Moines got both its runs in the second with two outs.
Willie Martinez doubled off Wigfall with two outs and scored on a Corey Jordan single.
Jordan later scored on a double by Hopkins.
An inning later, Kyle Roberts clubbed a two-run homer off Wigfall.
St. Louis got its lone run in the bottom of the third.
Alfredo Gomez led off with a double off Hopkins.
He later scored on a Chris Duncan fly ball to center.
The Harvesters got their final two runs in the eighth
Martinez drove them both in with a single off reliever Scott Rissler.
Josh Crespo replaced Hopkins in the eighth, and set St. Louis down in order.
Brad Beshirs did the same in the ninth.
