Tied 1-1, a two-run home run by Manuel Coke highlighted a three-run top of the seventh inning for St. Louis as the River Walkers defeated Evansville 4-1 at Yankee Stadium (1988).
A home run from Yan C. Dixon in the top of the sixth off Bosses starting pitcher Fernando Maldonaldo had tied the game 1-1.
St. Louis did its damage in the seventh against the Evansville bullpen.
Bob Saavedra got things rolling with a single off Danny McCauley.
A wild pitch, with Jackson Miller, at the plate moved Saavedra to second.
He scored on a Miller single.
Jeremy Kriech then replaced McCauley only to give up a 395 foot homer to right to Coke on an 0-2 pitch.
St. Louis rookie starter Kevin Hrdlicka worked five innings, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out five and walked one.
Brennan Weldon worked a scoreless sixth inning.
Weldon (3-0) earned the win
Bobby Westerman handled the seventh and eighth.
Nick Strother kept it 4-1 in the ninth for his ninth save.
