Walkers news: June 7 -- Evansville 11, St. Louis 2

Record: 36-22, 1st, 3 GA Springfield
Evansville hammered St. Louis rookie starter Danny Burch for six runs in the bottom of the second inning, and the Bosses went on to rout the River Walkers 11-2 at Yankee Stadium (1988).
Making a spot start for a tired Shane Drogo, Burch got in trouble in the first inning as Evansville loaded the base but failed to score.
However, he didn't survive the second as the Bosses pounded out six runs on just three hits, but were helped by two walks, a hit by pitch and a passed ball by Jackson Miller.
Chris McFadden and Ramon Montes both drew walks to open the inning.
Jaime Mora later was hit by a pitch with one out to load the bases.
Chris Shelley drove in the inning's first run with a single.
Luke Leto later plated a pair with another single.
Shelley scored on Miller's passed ball.
Aaron Nixon handled the rest with a two-run double.
The Walkers did climb back to within 6-2 with single runs in the fourth and fifth.
But the Bosses broke it back open in the bottom of the sixth, when Justin Slayton hit a three-run homer off Ron Cox.
A Jeff Waldron homer in the eighth off Alex Cintron accounted for the game's final run.
Bosses starter Cory Maddox lasted five innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
Joe Castaneda (1.0 IP), Nick Feretti (2.1) and Jeremy Kriech (0.2) combined to shut out St. Louis the rest of the way.
