End of Regular Season Update!

We finished with a 91-71 record which was good enough for 1st place in the AL West!

Transactions since last update
July 31 - Traded for Josh Rojas from ARI. He was having an excellent season with a .907 OPS prior to trade, but only hit for a .700 OPS with us.
August 17 - Claimed Brandon Bielak off waivers from Houston. Had already been optioned and would be spot starter if need be. Spent remained of season in bullpen.
Optioned AJ Alexy to AAA.
August 24 - Jonathan Loaisiga sent for rehab assignment to AAA.
September 1 - Recalled Loaisiga and Alexy from AAA.
September 2 - Blake Rutherford injured for next 5 weeks. Recalled Evan Russell from AAA.
October 1 - Tommy Pham injured for next 5-6 months with a broken bone in his elbow. Chris Seise recalled from AAA.
October 6 - Josh Rojas injured for next 4 weeks with a broken collarbone. Curtis Terry recalled from AAA.

Pitching Stats for 2024

Michael King had a very inconsistent season and is now down to our #5 starter heading to playoffs. He had an ERA over 7 in both August & September.
Hans Crouse had 18 really good starts for us this year. He will be our #4 starter for the playoffs.
Kevin Ginkel had another excellent season in relief. The BB/9 were up a bit to 4.6 but the HR/9 was down at 0.7.
DeMarcus Evans led MLB in saves with 47!

Hitting Stats for 2024!

Yin-zhen Kim was 2nd on our team in WAR and it all comes from the elite defense (although he his .268 somehow).
Tyler Freeman had a tremendous season. As a waiver claim, he might be our fulltime 2B next season.
Evan Russell has shown flashes that his bat will carry him, but he could very well be a AAAA type player also. His OBP in AAA is .419, so he knows how to get on base.
Colton Welker flopped hard after coming over in a trade from Colorado. His OPS with us was sub .600 and he has been relegated to a backup role for the time being. Hopefully he can rebound next year.

The lineup is very banged up heading in to the playoffs, but hopefully our pitching can carry us. Blake Rutherford should be back for 2nd round, if we can get there.

Also, we have been using Austin Hedges to catch Kumar Rocker exclusively this year, so he will be behind the plate in game 1 vs Kansas City!

Here is the full playoff tree!

Random league notes
Luis Arraez hit .376 to lead AL and Brian Leonhardt hit .337 to lead NL.
Ronald Acuna Jr led MLB in homers with 40.
CJ Abrams had twice as many SB as next guy with 70 swipes.
Clarke Schmidt (now with KC) led AL in ERA with 3.07 and Nick Lodolo finished 2nd in NL with 3.43.
Walker Beuhler was only pitcher in MLB with more than 15 wins, he finished with 18!
Eric Cerantola (Colorado) led NL in strikeouts with 216!
Oakland A's finished with worst record (65-97) and will have 1st overall pick in 2025 draft!

Edit - Forgot to mention we through a combined no hitter on October 3rd and the game didn't even acknowledge it!

Ky Bush was injured while pitching, perhaps that caused some confusion?
