Walkers news: July 30 -- St. Louis 3, Green Bay 1
Record: 59-40, 1st, 4 GA Springfield and Quad City
Xavier Wigfield allowed one run while pitching into the eighth inning and St. Louis defeated Green Bay 3-1 at Busch Stadium (2006).
The Walkers took the final two games of the three-game series with the Mallards.
Wigfield gave up his lone run in the top of the first inning as Kerry Fackelman scored on a Blaze Jordan single after drawing a lead-off walk, stealing second and reaching third on a throwing error by catcher Jackson Miller.
The Mallards wouldn't score again against the right-hander. He left after striking out Ramon Puente to open the top of the eighth.
Greg Sones retired the next two hitters to end the eighth.
Nick Strother posted a 1-2-3 ninth for his 19th save.
The Walkers got all three of their runs in the bottom of the fourth against Green Bay starting pitcher Juan Vergara.
After retiring the first hitter, Vergara allowed the next four to reach base beginning with a Nick Shaw single.
Marcos Francis followed the single with a walk. Both would score on a double by Mark Herman.
Jose Segura scored Herman with a single.
